Welcome to Woody's One Man Band

Channel 4 TV, April 2nd,2007 @ 7.55pm, "The Busker Symphony" recorded in August 2006 was broadcast as part of the 3 Minute Wonder series. The series, ran for 4 nights & comprised buskers in & around London. The first programme, "ANDANTE", featured "Woody's One Man Band" and the "Sounds of the Streets of London". The series was brilliantly executed & created by TRIPLESTOP FILMS , directed by Benjamin Till & produced by Julie Claire for Channel 4. Congratulations to all the other buskers who took part - we are quirky but talented people. I think we did Ben & Julie proud but at the same time should thank them for giving us all an opportunity usually denied to folk like us. There is a link to Channel 4 TV & to The Busker Symphony at the bottom of this page.

Hi there !

My name is Paul Woodhead (Woody) and I am a professional entertainer.

I play a one man band (OMB) setup together with guitar, mandolin, banjolele, ukelele (ukulele),Q digital guitar, spoons, bones, harmonica, kazoo and anything else that's lying around!!
The above photograph was taken at The Boat Inn, Jackfield Festival, Ironbridge in August 2004.

My One Man Bands come in three versions : firstly a sack truck mounted model with two keyboards & amplifier ; secondly, an acoustic suitcase bass with washboard, cymbal, cowbell & woodblock; thirdly a back pack drum, tambourines and cymbals. The back back is a "walkabout" troubador option for festivals, carnivals and busking. On stage, it can couple up wuth the suitcase bass & washboard. The back pack is stringed up to my 12 string guitar to play the back drum (see Adlington Carnival picture in "Picture Picks".

I entertain for societies, retirement homes, hospitals, pensioners groups, holiday companies, hotels, fetes, carnivals, festivals etc etc.

I have played for many charity events and also BBC Music Day and several annual festivals. In August 2006 I took part in a Channel 4 TV production called "The Buskers Symphony", one of the "3 Minute Wonder" series. This will be screened in December 2006.(for pictures see PICTURE PICK).
In 2004 I entertained at a day of "Eccentric Music" at the New Priory Hotel in Hereford, UK.

.
With the Cyprus Ukulele Band, May, 2004.

With the George Formby Society I have regularly played at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, clubs & venues and charity street busking.

If you are looking for light personalised entertainment I will be happy to talk to you.

Tesimonials include :

"everyone greatly enjoyed your visit & we hope to see you again in the near future" (Women's Royal Voluntary Service)

"you gave us an evening we shall remember with pleasure" (Women's Institute)

"you made our party go with a swing" (Golden Wedding Party)

"I have had brilliant feedback from them all. A very professional performance..sound was excellent" (Sheltered Group)

"thank you Paul for a wonderful afternoon much enjoyed by all" (Garth Nursing Home)

"thank you for making such a tremendous difference to our day" (Hospice

"we could do with you here every week (ASDA

"what a great day and it was a pleasure working with you" (Triplestop Films)

"thanks Woody for wandering around the festival with your One Man Band. Thanks also for standing in on stage when we were let down by another act" (Carnival Committee)

"Nothing had prepared me for Paul Woodhead, Woody's One Man Band. This slightly eccentric character wheeled his instruments onto stage to the incredulous expression of a now growing audience. He launched into a set of songs best descibed as a cross between George Formby and Don Partridge. Anyone who can write a song called "I Stole A Sausage While My Darling Wasn't Looking" gets my vote for sheer impudence. I loved his slightly camp delivery and his ad-libs and the audience reaction said it all. They loved him and as an entertainer he is first class.(Country Music Round Up Magazine)
