and the mandolin !!
|
|
The mandolin is my most recent instrument having been bought in February 2001. I was first attracted to the instrument when I played with the Unicorn Folk Group and Ted Drury one of our members played the instrument. I admired the unique sound both for melody and chord work as well as the way he played it! One of my favourite bands, The Bushbury's also feature mandolin in their "mountain" music. I took the plunge and bought a "K Lee" hand made mandolin from Mid Wales Music in Newtown. Sometime later my friend, James Davey at Shifnal Music fitted a pickup in the bridge. My first rendition was "Donald Where's Your Troosers" which fitted perfectly to my act. Subsequntly I added "The Glenbeigh Polka" to the end, a little melody tune & I've gone from there. I now use the instrument a lot in my live work as well as on my backing music when I intend to play guitar or uke "on stage".
